Have you ever looked at your own headshot image objectively? Go on your social profile and check. Did you add it because you thought you look good, or that someone else will think you look good? Also does ‘looking good’ mean professional, or you just have a nice smile on the image?
Would you buy from yourself if you would be your own client? Would you trust yourself?
Would you believe that person on the images is 100% professional and will deliver what I need?
Everyone is different; some people have black and white images, some more modern on black background, and some standard on white background. Some treat it as a branding profile and part of their business identity and personal branding; some don’t care.
Research shows that you need 5 sec to judge someone if it is your kind of person or not; so now – imagine someone finds your profile – what do they think after this 5 sec, do they send you a request and wants to connect with you, or run away?
In full honesty, your headshot = your portrait, should reflect who you are as a person; it should show your personality, your style and should impact a viewer in a way that they want to meet you. Does your image work this way?
I know, I know there is a lot of questions here, I just wanted to make you think in a different way. Don’t underestimate the power of your own portrait. It is who you are.
